Judge Abdel-Rahman rebuked Saddam for not rising when speaking to the court.
"I don't do this for a man who doesn't respect the law," Saddam replied. He argued that he could not be forced to accept court-appointed lawyers.
"We are implementing a law that was issued when you were president," Abdel-Rahman told him.
"Degradation and shame upon you, Raouf," Saddam yelled. Later, he called the investigating judges "homosexuals."
A 23 year-old man attempted to crucify himself. After constructing a cross out of planks of wood he nailed his left hand to the cross with a hammer and nail. He then realized that he was unable to nail his right hand to the cross. So instead, he used his one good hand to call 9-1-1 for a rescue.
