01 July 2005:

OK, so I suppose I should actually write something about myself for the first time in a month or so for the two or three people who actually read this thing.  Life is good.  In fact, life is better than good.  Life is friggin mint tit awesome!
I'm just finishing up my summer class and hopefully I can start bartending shortly after that wraps up.  On top of that, I actually enjoy lifeguarding for the first time in recent memory.  I'm also actually making money instead of spending it for the first time!
As for the long-term stuff, for the first time in four years I actually feel confident that I can finish this degree in Electrical Engineering!  This past semester was just awesome, I had such a blast in the design labs actually inventing, designing and building electronics.  I can't wait for Senior Design this upcoming year!  Right now, I'm focused mostly on finishing college, starting my career in the Air Force and putting away money for starting a family of my own someday (and maybe a motorcycle).
After I graduate, I plan on attending the Air Force's navigator training.  I haven't decided if I want to Nav fighters, bombers, or cargo, but I have decided that I want to try for a pilot slot sometime in the near future if at all possible.
But in the meantime, I'm just happy to be enjoying my last summer in New England for a while.  Most of my friends have moved on to new beginnings, as I will myself soon enough.  But I still have plenty of quality companions left in the area, including a few who have been good friends for going on eight years now.  And a few, I'm sorry to say, I've lost to all sorts of things:  fallings out, circumstances, the war.  But I always try to remember them for who they were and appreciate the time that we had together.
As for family, my dad should be coming home from Iraq any day now!  And my Aunt Jane is coming to Clinton for the month, which will be just awesome!  My Aunt Di and my father are both fighting their cancer very well and I'm confident that they'll both come out on top.  My sister, Randa, is going to be attending college down in Virginia, studying to become a nurse.  Danielle & Megan still have a year left in high school.  And Erin is abroad all over Europe and surfing down in Puerto Rico and doing all kinds of cool stuff and going to all sorts of neat places.
So that's about it, I guess.  I'm working hard putting myself through life.  And you know what? I'm actually enjoying it.  I've worked really hard to get this far and there's still a lot of work left to be done.  But I'm more certain now than ever before that I can make all my dreams come true!  Every day is another adventure and while I haven't got everything, I'm truly thankful for everything that I've got!

Pray tomorrow gets me higher!

OK, I'll go back to being funny again now.

11 July 2005:

I would just like to reiterate how awesome this season's lifeguard team is at Pelletier Park!  Seriously, I am having a friggin awesome summer at work!  Not to mention all the stuff to keep me busy outside of work!  (I just saw the preview for the new Bad News Bears movie!  Why?  WHY???  Did Hollywood just suddenly run out of shitty ideas for movies?)  OK, so I'll be known as the lifeguarding, camp counseling, park maintaining, bartending Air Force Navigator with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

SCHOOOOOOOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER!!!

Woot!

I went down to the Selectman's office this afternoon and everybody there greeted me with smiles, nice chit-chat and whatnot.  Almost everyone down there has known me practically since I was a little kid, even before I started working for the town. Being so closely acquainted with the current administration is kind of a unique feeling, even in a small town like Chester.  Especially when you consider the fact that 66.66666666666666666667% (or 2/3) of the people that walk into that office are only there to complain about something and are hardly just stopping in to say, "Hi."
And I seriously doubt that the mean age of visitors is anywhere near my own.  And how many people can say that their First Selectman went to the trouble of buying them a rota-tiller?!  Okay, sure the thing's a tiny little thing, it scratched my car, cut my leg and the throttle broke on the first day so now it starts going out of control the moment you start it up and if you don't hold onto it the thing will go on a killing spree chopping up the feet of small children and parents alike.  I guess it's the thought that counts.

This week I am MAXED OUT for hours.  No overtime for those who work for a town that won't even run a mil rate when they can't pass a budget.  The children were braiding me some kind of Chinese Something-or-Other in farts & craps today.  Yeah, that one had Jess practically asphyxiated.  Howard Stern would be so proud of my second-grade-level potty wits.
